Our purpose:  To help guide you on your voyage of discovery.   This website is not part of or endorsed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Welcome

to your voyage of discovery

Steps to follow

Gather what you already know about your family.  Collect family records, old photos, letters, diaries, photocopies from family Bibles. Talk to your relatives and ask about their memories.  Do they have stories from when they were growing up? Write down what you have found out, so you can decide what you don’t yet know.  Complete pedigree charts and family group sheets. Focus your search.  What are the blanks in your family tree?  Focus on someone from the most recent generation where information is missing.  Answer that mystery and then work backwards. Search the Internet – a great place to find leads and share information.  There are links to many sources on this website.  Learn more by running through training courses to help your research techniques.  See ‘Other Resources’ on the menu. Visit your local Family History Centre and seek guidance from the experts there. Develop your own filing system to keep a record of how you obtained information.  Store any printouts and certificates in an orderly way so that you can easily find and review them again later. You may want to travel to places where your ancestors lived to visit courthouses, churches, cemeteries and other places where old records are kept. Enter and share your findings on Family Tree.  Cooperate with other researchers to share it, discuss it, fix it and source it.  Get help from millions to find billions and build the world’s genealogy. However you discover your ancestors, you’ll find it fun.  As exciting as a detective story, but never ending.

Our inspiration - Malachi 3:38-39

‘Behold, I will reveal unto you the Priesthood, by the hand of Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers.  If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming.’

Our task

‘Let us therefore, as a church and a people, and as Latter-day Saints, offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness; and let us present in his holy temple, when it is finished, a book containing the record of our dead, which shall be worthy of all acceptation.’
